Carolina Elephant's-foot is a native plant in the daisy family found through much of Virginia. The name "elephant's-foot" comes from the long, broad leaves at the base of the plant. Elephant's Foot is also the name given to a mass of radioactive material that formed during the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986. The material will remain radioactive for 100,000 years.
