Leafy Elephant's-foot, Carolina Elephant's Foot
Elephant's Foot is a native plant in the daisy family found through much of Virginia. The name "elephant's foot" comes from the long, broad leaves at the base of the plant. Elephant's Foot is also the name given to a mass of radioactive material that formed during the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986. The material will remain radioactive for 100,000 years.
